The Rotary Lombardi Award Eighth Block of Granite: Vince Lombardi was a member of a legendary defensive line at Fordham coined the “Seven Blocks of Granite”. To honor a long-time committee member and valued friend John Elam, former college lineman at Texas A&M for his commitment to the award, the committee created the Eighth Block of Granite Designation. John, who lost his battle with cancer in early 2010, exemplified what Lombardi himself said about leadership, “Leadership is based on a spiritual quality; the power to inspire, the power to inspire others to follow.” John will be greatly missed…..

Bucky Ribbeck is a varsity lineman and senior at Strake Jesuit. He is a survivor of Ewing’s Sarcoma.
